Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) Faculty of Tourism and Bafra Tourism Vocational School collaborated to organize two significant social responsibility events. The "Addiction Prevention and Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar" and the "Turkish Red Crescent Blood Donation – It's Impossible Without You" events attracted great interest from students and academics.

Addiction Prevention and Cybersecurity Seminar

The seminar, held in the Tourism Faculty Conference Hall, was organized in collaboration with the Addiction Prevention Application and Research Center Directorate and the Samsun Police Department Narcotics Crimes Branch Directorate.

The awareness training, organized for first-year students of the Tourism Faculty and Bafra Tourism Vocational School, provided comprehensive information on topics such as what drugs are, the initiation process of addiction, the physical, psychological, and social effects of substance use, methods of combating drug addiction, and the legal consequences of drug use. In addition, the Drug Prevention Application (UYUMA), developed to prevent drug use and trafficking, was introduced to the students.

Following the Narcotics Guide Training Awareness Seminar, the Samsun Provincial Gendarmerie Command Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate held a discussion on "Safe Use of the Internet and Cyber Incidents." During the discussion, students were informed about cyberbullying, phishing, safe use of social media, precautions to take during online shopping, information security, protection of personal data, information pollution in digital environments, and safe internet use. The legal consequences of illegal gambling, fraud, blackmail, threats, and other cyber crimes were also explained.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session for the students.

As Every Year, This Year Too, “It's Impossible Without You”

On the same day, the Faculty of Tourism, Bafra Tourism Vocational School, and the Turkish Red Crescent organized a blood donation event with the slogan “It's Impossible Without You.”

As in previous years, the Faculty of Tourism and Bafra Tourism Vocational School, supporting the blood donation campaign, carried out an important social awareness effort with the participation of students and academics. To encourage students, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Prof. Dr. Yetkin Bulut, also donated blood. Throughout the day-long event, faculty and vocational school students and staff donated blood, supporting the Red Crescent.
